Step into the heart of London Britain Township and become a guardian of our streets, parks, and properties! Â As a Public Works Maintenance Worker, you'll wield hand and power tools like a maestro, orchestrating the upkeep of our community. From plowing snow, transporting various materials to cutting grass and brush, every day brings new adventures and challenges that you'll tackle with minimal guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Repair and maintain Township roads using asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete. Cut grass, bushes and trees using tractor mounter mowers. You'll be the hero who ensures smooth rides and safe travel.
Replace storm drainage pipes, grade and clean shoulders and drainage structures, and widen roads. Your work will keep our streets flood-free and safe.
Craft and erect road signs, guide rails, and remove weeds. Your signs will guide travelers and keep our roads clear.
Operate graders, loaders, backhoes, dump trucks and rollers to excavate, level terrain, and move earth and materials. You'll be the master of heavy machinery.
Drive snow plows and salting machinery to keep our roads safe during winter storms.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs of equipment, assisting mechanics with major repairs. Perform routine maintenance on vehicles. Â Your skills will keep our fleet in top shape.
Maintain parks by painting playground equipment, marking playing fields, planting trees, and removing trash. You'll create spaces where families can thrive.
Perform basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and masonry tasks to improve township facilities. Your craftsmanship will enhance our community.

Skills and Abilities:
Equipment Expertise:Â Thorough knowledge of light, medium, and heavy equipment, manual, pneumatic and power tools operating procedures.
Ability to interpret prints, drawings, sketches and rough drafts.
In-depth understanding of road maintenance and repair practices.
Knowledge of State laws pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles.
Sufficient physical strength and freedom from disabilities to lift heavy objects and work under adverse weather conditions. Ability to walk, crouch, climb ladders and exert 50 to 100 pbs of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 lbs. frequently.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures for equipment and tools.
Ability to diagnose equipment issues, interpret technical manuals, and determine the best course of action.
Cooperate with co-workers on group tasks and demonstrate a polite and courteous manner toward the general public.

License Requirements: Possession of a valid PA motor vehicle operator’s license for the class of vehicle to be operated: CDL (Class B with air brakes).
