PennDOT to Replace North Creek Road Bridge in London Britain Township, Chester County King of Prussia – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will close the North Creek Road Bridge over White Clay Creek in London Britain Township, Chester County, on Monday, Nov. 2 to begin construction to replace the 96-year old structure. The new bridge is scheduled to open in July 2010. Crews will work over the next eight months to remove the structurally deficient steel bridge, which is posted with a five-ton weight restriction, and replace it with a new concrete beam structure. The new bridge will be 38 feet long and have two 10-foot lanes and two-foot shoulders. The abutments and walls of the new bridge will be adorned with a stone form liner so the structure blends in with its surrounding environment. During construction of the new bridge, North Creek Road motorists will follow the posted detour of Route 841, Flint Hill Road and Good Hope Road to travel from one side of the creek to the other. A detour also will go into effect on Mercer Mill Road because it will be closed at North Creek Road. Mercer Mill Road drivers will be detoured over Flint Hill Road, Good Hope Road and Northbank Road. The existing structurally deficient bridge was built in 1913. It is 38 feet long and 18 feet wide. The bridge carries an average of 550 vehicles a day.
